THE line-up for the quarter-finals of the men’s Winter Foursomes at Tiverton Golf Club is taking shape.

In the bottom half of the draw, David Webber and Steve Bazley will meet Brian Phillips and Ricky Baker after beating Andy Ogden and Lawrence Blake in the second round.

Shaun Vickery and Robert Mugford will take on Tony Orford and Steve Hill after defeating Steve Jack and Ken Rixon.

In the top half, Mark Sangster and Heath Ellis were already through to the quarter-finals and lie in wait for either Ian Budden and Norman Ford or Les Hartley and Roger Fetherston.

Favourites Chem Austin and Charlie Durnan booked their place in the last eight after knocking out Alby Cruse and Phil Moulding at the weekend.

Austin and Durnan will face either Roger Stevens and Kevin Ruscoe or former champions Andy Bolt and Derek Cruwys, who will do battle on Saturday.

Former club captains Neil Carthew, Tony Allsopp and Martin Selby linked up with Lloyd Sampson to win the four-man team event on Saturday with 87 stableford points.

Simon Young, Keith Williams, Nick Konig and Nick Lear scored 86 to come second on a countback from Roger Norton, Mike Hurley, Paul Steele and Ian Loudon.

Marg Sampson posted a score of 0 to win the ladies’ rearranged Dec-ember Par on Wednesday.

The 34-handicapper topped the Bronze Div-ision while Alison Hilton scored -7 to win the Silver Division on a countback from Angela Short.
