TIVERTON Rifle Club’s prone rifle shooters are at the half way point in the Devon Winter League.

Tiverton A need to keep on top form as they face tough opposition. Rounds 1, 3, 4 and 9 resulted in defeat, with Yealmpton A winning by only three points in Round 9. There were draws against Bideford B (480 scored) and Pinhoe A (486 points) in Rounds 2 and 6. Wins in Rounds 5, 7 and 8 were against Okehampton A, TVR A and Tavistock A.

Top individual scores (with first half averages in brackets) for A-team members so far are: Richard Covey – 98 (96.56), Gerald Ratcliff – 100 (98.78), Alex Covey – 99 (96.89), Alan Green – 98 (95.22), and Ben Blewett - 97 (94.56).

If the A team can maintain their recent form, they stand a good chance against Budleigh Salterton in Round 10, to whom they lost in Round 1.

For Tiverton B, victories were achieved in Rounds 1, 6 and 8 against Tavistock B, Lustleigh A and Plymouth TSC. The team must pick themselves up from their one point defeat in Round 9 to Pinhoe C (472 to 473) and will need to score approx 480 points per round to secure more wins in the second half of the league over the coming weeks.

Top B team individual scores (averages in brackets) so far are: Bruce Hunt – 96 (93.56), Dave Waller – 95 (93.67), Simon Radford – 98 (92.56), Stuart Silvester – 98 (93.44) and Mark Jones – 97 (92.67).

The team enter Round 10 hoping to beat Tavistock B again, after a 466 to 460 victory in Round 1.
