BULLOCKS are now just one point behind All Blacks at the top of Division B in the Sampford Peverell and district league after winning their top-of-the-table clash by 17 pins.

In Division A Elmore Club have been joined by Bellies and Globe Appley B in the chase to catch leaders Settler Boys.

Catherine Wheel have jumped into second in Division C behind Lion Cubs.

Reports: Globetrotters took a nice win over Elmore Club. The latter, on alley first, were seven pins up after three legs, but a 16 pin pull on the fourth leg gave the home team the lead and there they stayed. Andy Parr of Elmore posted a 22 spare as both teams posted 91 in the last leg.

It wasn’t a good night for Queens Head as they went down to Bradninch C Club who won four of the six legs, including pulling 26 pins over the last three.

The derby game between Globe Appley and Globe Appley B was an overwhelming victory for the Bs. They won all the legs including a four-spare 86 fifth leg. GAB now move into joint second place in the league Calverleigh picked up two easy points as they hammered The Hounds, and in the process won all six legs. The home team set a target that could not be reached.

A close fought game took place between Bellies and Settler Boys with the honours just taken by the home team. Going into the last leg the Boys were four pins in front, but a ten pin pull saw Bellies win the leg and the game. This win puts Bellies into joint second place in the league.

Another good home win by Lumberjacks, this time against Redwoods, see them move up the table. The second and third leg were shared, but the Jacks won the rest to take a comfortable two points.

A good start from Barmy Army saw them lead Brass Monkeys by eight pins after four legs, but BM’s form revival continues and they pulled 13 pins on the fifth. With the last being shared, the visitors took two precious points.

DIVISION B: The Ponies 389, Barley Mow 385; Roy’s Rebels 399, HCC1 376; Bradninch RBL 431, Crossways 421; The Merriemeade, bye; Oggies 396, The Beare 405; All Blacks 414, Bullocks 431; Uplowman 410, Ayshford Arms 382.

High Scores: 67 – D Groves (The Ponies, three spares); 65 – M Coombs (All Blacks, two spares); Reports: The Ponies and Barley Mow had a close game with the legs being even but the home team managed to take the points by a mere four pins.

Roy’s Rebels take a 23 pin win over HCC1 with the home team only dropping pins on the third leg.

Bradninch RBL went 14 up after the first visit to the alley, pulling a further six on the next visit. Crossways managed to reduce the deficit by ten but it left them ten short of the goal.

Oggies lost to third spot The Beare who did most of the damage on the first rub, pulling 27 pins. The home side only dropped pins on one further rub but the damage was done.

All Blacks (top) hosted the Bullocks (second) which saw the home team up by a single pin after the first two rubs. The away team upped their game and pulled away, winning by 17 pins to go within a point of the leaders.

Uplowman pulled pins on each of their first two visits to the alley, going 35 pins clear. Ayshford Arms made a futile late bid, pulling seven back.

DIVISION C: Tiverton RBL 387, Tiverton Chiefs 387; The Farmers 378, Ashill Inn 393; Lion Cubs 459, Huntsham A 448; The Travellers 405, Booze Cruzers 387; Rose & Crown 400, Heathcoat Hulas 384; Catherine Wheel 376, Knock Em Down 323.

High Scores: 68 – S Prescott (Huntsham A, three spares); 67 – R Bailey (Lion Cubs, three spares) & T Bolt (Huntsham A, two spares); 66 – J Gliddon (Lion Cubs, three spares).

Reports: Tiverton RBL drew their game at home to Tiverton Chiefs. Chiefs were on first and edged into a six pin lead after the first two legs, but were 11 down after four. Chiefs finished strongly and left RBL a modest target of 57 on the last leg to win. They fell one short and the spoils were shared.

Ashill Inn had a useful away win at The Farmers, taking the game by 16 pins. Farmers started well and were seven up after two legs. Ashill turned the screw and took the next three to leave the Farmers still without a home win this season.

Lion Cubs remain two points clear at the top of the table after an 11 pin home win against Huntsham A. The teams traded legs throughout the game, but a spare-less fifth from Huntsham cost them the game.

Travellers were 18 pin winners at home to Booze Cruzers. Cruzers were 11 up after the first leg, but let that slip to ten down after four. Travellers set the visitors a tough target with two decent last legs and Cruzers couldn’t match it.

Rose and Crown go level on points with their visitors, Heathcoat Hulas, after an 11 pin home win. Hulas were nine in front after four legs, but Rose and Crown saved their two best legs for last for the win.

Catherine Wheel had a comprehensive 53 pin home win against Knock Em Down to take them second in the table. KED were 39 down after the first two legs and never looked in it, although they did pick up two leg wins.
