FORMER Olympic swimmer Sue Haigh picked up no less than five titles at the annual national Masters short course championships at Sheffield.

The 62-year-old member of Tiverton Swimming Club took gold in the 50m and 200m butterfly, the 100m and 200m freestyle, and the 200 IM. She was also second in the 400m free.

Haigh, who competed at the Mexico Olympics in 1968, was joined at the championships by clubmate Graham Cridland who won bronze in the 50 butterfly and narrowly missed out on another in the 100m fly. However he still set regional records for the two events.

Two other Tiverton SC members – Rebecca Jenkinson competing for Exeter and Heidi Hunt competing for Exmouth – also figured highly in the medal tally.

Jenkinson gained silver in the 100m IM and bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

Hunt earned silver in the 50m back and breaststroke and bronze in the 100m backstroke.
