THE week’s star performer in the Sampford Peverell and district league was Tiverton Chiefs’ captain Martin Roberts with a four spare 77.

The first two big spares of the season were both thrown by Globe Appley B with a 26 from S Baker and a 24 from captain Paul Mills.

And there was another man-of-the-march performance from All Blacks lead man, M Coombes with a two spare 67.

Reports: Elmore Club followed The Hounds onto the alley and were 12 pins up after the first two legs. They continued to pile on the pressure, helped by a four-spare 69 from Anchor Man, Roger Lowman.

Bradninch C Club took the first three legs off Globe Appley B, as they posted 200 pins over the second and third legs. They continued to dominate the game, only losing the fourth and last legs. This in spite of two 90+ legs from GAB.

Brass Monkeys were playing catch-up from the start of their game with Settler Boys, as they were 24 adrift after two legs, and though they shared the third and won the rest, they had too much to do. The Boys won by 19.

A very close game took place between Barmy Army and Redwoods with just one pin giving the win to the home team. Redwoods overtook the Army after two legs but failed to win another leg.

Queens Head could do nothing wrong in their game against Lumberjacks, winning every leg, with six of their players in the 50s.

Globe Appley set Bellies a real target as they posted a three-spare 80 first leg pulling 27 pins. The away team were always playing catch up – and didn’t.

Castaways were 14 pins down after three legs in their game with Calverleigh and the away team were not going to let that advantage slip.

Ayshford Arms lost at home to ex-Division A side The Beare who find themselves in the leading pack.

Uplowman fell to The Agri-Nuts who picked up their first win to kick start their season.

The Ponies lost to All Blacks as lead man M Coombes took the highest score for the second week running to get his team off the mark.

Roy’s Rebels kept up the pace with a comfortable 21 pin win over Bickleigh who have yet to get off the mark.

Bradninch RBL missed out on top spot as the Oggies recorded a nice away win to get them on the board.

Ashill Inn remain winless after a nine pin home defeat against Huntsham A. Ashill won the first three legs, then Huntsham won the last three to reverse the hosts advantage and take the win.

Catherine Wheel had a comfortable home win against Heathcoat Hulas. They took all six legs to finish 61 pins to the good.
