TOP cyclist Tom Baylis has just added the national junior 10 mile time trial championship gold to an already impressive list of achievements this year.

Eighteen-year-old Tom, a member of the Mid Devon Cycling Club, took the title at Alcester, Warwickshire last Saturday in a time of 20m 15s.

He already has a bronze medal from the national junior road race championships held earlier this summer.

And he also achieved fourth place overall in the year-long national junior road series, which reached a conclusion two weeks ago at the Tour of Wales.

Tom, who is also a member of the Haribo Beacon Racing Team, is looking forward to making the step up to the senior ranks next year and the new challenges ahead.

Meanwhile clubmate Lauren Dolan claimed the bronze medal in the girls’ 15km Points race at the Sainsbury’s 2014 School Games.

Lauren was competing in her first games – having only taken up the sport in February – and is now targeting a top three finish at next year’s national championships.

She said: “Going into the Games I didn’t have any expectations as I’m still learning so I’m delighted to pick up a medal.

“The race could maybe have gone a little bit better but I’m still really happy with the outcome.

“I did the best I could on the day and I’m happy with that.

“Now I want to try and push on. I want to be up there competing with the best next year and I want to be in the top three at the nationals.”
