Cornwall Under-18s picked up a well deserved 1-0 win when they beat Devon in the group B opener of the South and West Counties Championships.
Penzance's Callum George was the only goal scorer on the day as he fired Cornwall into a 30th minute lead after Devon keeper Dan Law had blocked a shot from Penryn's Josh Burton.
Porthleven's Kyle Frazer picked up the man-of-the-match award for his display in a game where the Duchy's victory should have been by a much larger margin.
George was denied on two other occasions by Devon's Law, while Cameron Bidgood from Newquay had a shot blocked from close range.
Burton also sent a header just over the crossbar.
Devon's best chance of an equaliser came in injury time as Tiverton Town’s Liam Gregory headed at goal. However, his shot was brilliantly tipped over the bar by Newquay keeper Sam Trudgian.
