Werrington won the ECB Cornwall Premier League for the first time on Saturday, beating Camborne by eight wickets to claim the trophy.

Werrington have had a tremendous run this season, winning nine of their 18 games and losing none.

It saw them finish 13 points ahead of St Just, who were beaten twice and won eight of their 18 games.

On Saturday Werrington bowled Camborne out for 137. Werrrington surpassed this total at the cost of just two wickets. B Smeeth and A Smeeth topped both reached unbeaten half centuries to help their side to victory.

Elsewhere in the ECB Cornwall Premier League Falmouth dropped to a disappointing sixth place after they were beaten by Grampound Road.

Falmouth had started the season well, with new captain Adrian Noott targeting a top five finish. However, last week's heavy defeat to Werrington followed by Saturday's loss saw them drop behind St Austell, despite them both finishing on 184 points.

Falmouth set a total of 124, with Richard Kellow making 36 and Noott, 28.

Grampound reached 131-8, winning the match by seven runs.

Other results saw Callinton beat St Austell by 42 runs and Paul beat already relegated Troon by 13 runs.
