Morrisons has revealed this week that it is looking at possible sites in Truro for a new store, but failed to confirm whether Truro City’s football ground is one of them.

Rumours started circulating this week that the supermarket chain was looking to buy Treyew Road from the club as Truro City FC looks to relocate to a new complex on land, near Polwhele School, opposite Truro Crematorium at Penmount.

A spokeswoman for Morrisons, said: “We are keen to bring our fresh food offering to Truro but we are just looking at sites at the moment.”

The spokeswoman added that the company could not confirm if the football ground was one of those sites.

It is thought that if Truro City do sell their ground there could be a possibility of them sharing Falmouth Town’s ground, Bickland Park, in between them moving from Treyew Road to their new home.

n Truro City have also confirmed that Chris Webb has left his role as vice chairman due to work commitments.

Webb had been in caretaker-manager of first team duties following the departure of Sean McCarthy and the arrival of new manager Steve Thompson.
