Carharrack 1, Porthleven 8

Porthleven scored eight goals as they brushed aside Carharrack in their Cornwall Senior Cup first round tie at the Howard Beauchamp Recreation Ground on Saturday.

Port led 3-0 at the break with Matt Fox scoring a penalty either side of Dan Greet headers. Jack Price added two within ten minutes of the re-start before Josh Sims scored direct from a corner kick.

Carharrack pulled one back thanks to Keron Smith, before further goals from Fox and Heydon Dark completed the scoring.

The Fishermen were without a number of first-team players, with George Molcher, Matt Drummond, Jordan Adlard, Dan McGhee, Chris Wormington and Jason Robertson all unavailable.

The latter's absence meant Scott Kellow deputised in goal, but he was largely untroubled as Port dominated throughout.

Greet put the visitors in front when he headed home a cross from new left-back Francis Pengelly on 13 minutes, before Matt Fox made it two on the spot shortly after, with Greet adding a second header on 32 minutes to give the Fishermen a three-goal lead at the break.

Price made it four when he converted Pengelly's cross on 50 minutes, before doing the same with Fox's pass five minutes later.

The sixth goal came with a helping hand from the wind in the 74th minute as Sims' corner flew straight into the net.

Smith bagged the hosts' consolation soon after with Port being caught on the break, but Fox scrambled in number seven before setting up Dark to hammer in number eight.

Porthleven: S Kellow, P Reynolds (J Reynolds 60), F Pengelly, J Sims, J Lugg, H Dark, M Everard, D Greet, R Carey (D Davey 60), J Price, M Fox.
