Falmouth Town 2, Plymouth Parkway 1

Falmouth Town beat ten-man Plymouth Parkway at St Dennis’ Boscawen Park on Sunday to win the annual Charity Bowl match.

Nick Milton saw red for Parkway before half-time before David Broglino and Luke Brabyn scored Town’s goals. Rob Farkins scored an injury-time consolation but Town held on to claim the silverware.

Parkway were quickest out of the blocks with Stewart Yetton firing at goal two minutes in, but Ryan Barnes blocked well with his legs.

Brabyn had the ball in the net for Town on 23 minutes but the whistle had already gone for a foul by the Falmouth winger.

The big flashpoint came on 36 minutes when Jack Bowyer and Milton clashed off the ball, with Milton given his marching orders for his part in the incident.

Falmouth Packet:

Joe Cooper went close after the break with a fantastic header from David Broglino’s corner, which was heading for the top corner but for Parkway keeper Neal Osbourne, who did well to palm it away.

But Town did take the lead on the hour when a Ryan Barnes goal kick ended up with Broglino, who rounded Osbourne and smashed home.

Parkway were inches away from equalising with David Blizzard getting a crucial touch to deflect Adam Carter’s shot onto the post, before Cooper made a vital header to deny Yetton.

A defensive mix-up on 86 minutes gave Tim Nixon the chance to make it 2-0 but his shot rolled just wide.

Falmouth Packet:

But superb work from Nixon allowed Brabyn to fire past Osbourne two minutes later to settle the tie.

Bentley then scored his injury-time consolation with a bullet header but it was too late for Parkway.
