Camborne 21, Lydney 0

Camborne recorded a fifth straight win to condemn visiting Lydney to relegation in atrocious conditions at the Recreation Ground.

For ‘Town’ skipper Jon Drew returned at prop in place of the injured Malcolm Hearn whilst Jordan Rose resumed on the flank. In the threequarters left wing Sam Newman made his full debut.

Playing up the slope the Cherry & Whites dominated early on and eventually went ahead with a deserved 15th minute converted try. From a lineout catch and drive outstanding No 8 James Goldsworthy was forced over for David Mankee to add the extras.

As the interval neared the home side doubled their advantage when centre Declan Matthews swept a superb pass wide to full back Rhodri Mcatee who touched down in the turnstile corner. Fly half Mankee added the extras from the touchline with a majestic kick.

The conditions worsened in the 2nd period and the visitors trailing 14-0 frequently frustrated Camborne with a determined defensive display. Wing Ben Tyler Guy was halted twice in the scoreboard corner with desperate tackles whilst Mankee went very close to a try in front of the West Bank.

Inside the final quarter the Cherry & Whites made the game safe with a 3rd try of the afternoon dotted down by hardworking lock Kieran Westlake. Once again the reliable Mankee booted the conversion to round off a convincing home victory.
