At a time of the year when player contracts are negotiated, in alphabetical order the Cornish Pirates can confirm that of the present squad, the following players are still in contract for next season:

Jack Andrew – Now aged 27, Cornish-born prop Jack has made 114 appearances for the Pirates since joining from Plymouth Albion in 2013.

He also played previously for Exeter Chiefs and the Cornish All Blacks.

Brett Beukeboom – A Canadian international who had played for Plymouth Albion, lock Brett made his debut for the Pirates immediately post the 2015 Rugby World Cup. An influential contributor in the engine room of the pack, the now 27-year-old has made 53 appearances for the club.

Will Cargill – Now in his third season with the Pirates, fly-half Will, aged 28, has featured in 64 games. A former England Students player, he is also the club’s leading points scorer this season with 136 in all games.

Tom Channon – Hooker Tom, who has in the past played for Newton Abbot and Torquay, joined the Cornish Pirates from Bristol in 2013. Aged 27, in total he has made 106 appearances as fully committed front-rower, which would have been more but for suffering a knee injury early in the season.

Alex Cheesman – This former Oxford ‘Blue’ and England Students player joined the Cornish Pirates as a centre back in 2012. However, a successful transition to flanker was soon made, where the 29-year-old’s performances have been admired. Alex has to date made 122 appearances for the club.

Tom Duncan – Cornishman Tom first arrived at the Pirates back in 2012, having played for Redruth as a proven try-scoring back-rower. Injury provided frustration in his early years at the Mennaye, however in playing 76 games he has blossomed into potent, and still try-scoring, performer.

Toby Freeman – Educated at Penryn College, Truro College and Exeter University, Cornish-bred lock Toby, aged 30, has notched up 26 appearances in his first season with the Pirates. He joined from Nottingham having also previously played for Rotherham Titans.

Christian Judge – Making 27 appearances for the Pirates in his first season at the club, prop Christian is another Cornish-bred player who recent months has been a regular starter at tight-head. Aged 25, he formerly played for the Cornish All Blacks, Plymouth Albion and Bedford Blues.

Dan Lee – Devonian Dan, aged 25, is a former Exeter Chiefs Academy and Taunton player who has made 43 appearances for the Cornish Pirates since first featuring in a pre-season friendly match played at St. Austell in 2014. Injuries have proved frustrating for the gifted back-rower, however when fit he has shown potential to make a real impact.

Chris Morgan – Now aged 36, following a loan spell from Bristol in 2005/06, ‘Barbarian’ Chris later signed for the Pirates from Newbury in 2008. Playing mostly in the back-row, but more recently at lock, throughout his time in Cornwall he has been an inspirational leader whose games tally presently stands at 225.

Marlen Walker – Bolstering their front-row options in January 2015, the Cornish Pirates signed Auckland-born Marlen initially on a short-term contract from Weston-Super-Mare. A former NZ Secondary Schools player he quickly made his mark and has impressed in his 84 appearances for the club.
