Penryn Head of Rugby Dave Levick has announced the arrival of six new faces to add to Borough's squad ahead of the new season.

The new signings, which bring the total of new players in during the close season to nine, begin with the arrival of Paul Saberton, who can play in any position in the backs.

Based at RNAS Culdrose, Saberton has previously represented the Navy Presidents Side, the Fleet Air Arm and RNAS Culdrose and Helston RFC.

He additionally has represented the Royal Navy in Rugby League. He has an existing link with Penryn RFC as his partner plays for the successful ladies' side. Paul has also been selected to play for a Doom Bar Select XV against a New Zealand Select XV team on 1st July.

Also coming into the senior side for 2017/18 are back rowers Guy Howson and Aidan Stanfield. Aged 17 and wanting to play senior rugby, they have both played for Truro College and have great pedigree having represented Cornwall at U15's, U16's and U17's. Guy was previously at Falmouth RFC, playing for PenFal Colts last season.

Aidan had played all his youth rugby at Penryn but left to play Colts last year for Redruth, before deciding to return this season.

Completing the current crop of new additions to the senior Penryn RFC roster for the upcoming season are Jon Brunyee (lock or flanker), Fraser O'Malley (prop) and winger Matt Thomson. The youngsters have all come through the youth section and spent last season playing for the Colts team and are now looking forward to stepping up to senior rugby.

The arrival of Jon, Fraser and Matt is a particularly important milestone for Penryn as they are the first players in quite a while to filter into the senior sides as a result of the merge with Falmouth RFC at Colts level. Their arrival in the club's senior ranks demonstrates that a clear pathway is now in place for the youngest Penryn RFC Mini player to eventually move up from the U6s to the first team.

These six new signings are in addition to the arrival of Josh Tora, Aaron Simmonds and Kyle Gratrix back in May.
