A youth football team from Helston has been invited to take part in a national football tournament in Nottingham, where they will be competing against some of best sides in the country.

The ACES tournament, which began in 2009, now attracts more than 300 teams from across Great Britain who are all looking to take the title of National Champions.

Helston Tigers under-14s manager Shaun Parker said: “I was at work a few weeks ago when I received a call from the tournament organiser, who said, he’d seen we had won our Premier League and would we like the opportunity to represent our club and county at U14 level?”

“The chance to play against the best teams from around the country is one we are going to relish, we will give it everything thing we have and hopefully we can come away with some credible results.”

The team, who recently won their league as unbeaten champions, are heading up to the tournament on June 18.
