PENRYN'S Grant Randlesome has described Cornwall's showdown with Lancashire as a "huge occasion" on Sunday.

It will be the first time that the big back row has trodden the hallowed turf of Twickenham and the 28 year-old cannot wait for it to get started.

"It's a massive honour to be pulling on the Cornwall shirt. Running out at Twickenham will be a bit different from running out at Lanner," he said.

He will take his place at the base of the scrum, forming a powerful back row with Penryn team mate George Jones and Camborne's Sam Matavesi.

"Obviously you do start looking towards having a summer break at this time of year, but what more motivation could you need than to be playing for Cornwall trying to win the championship?"

Grant is grateful to his partner Samantha, who has agreed to let him play despite being due to give birth in just four weeks.

"She'll be coming to watch along with loads of other family members, so it's going to be huge occasion for everyone.

"It's been a great experience, from playing in the Tamar Cup and all the matches and training sessions since then. The senior players have been as good as gold and I'm really looking forward to the whole weekend."

Players and coaching staff will travel up on Saturday in readiness for the noon kick-off on Sunday.

Cornwall will be aiming to win it for a third year in a row after victories over Lancashire and Cheshire in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
