Wendron Utd 4, Holsworthy 3

WENDRON have developed quite a knack of scoring late goals and Underlane witnessed another last-gasp winner in SWPL Division 1 West on Saturday.

Tom Langford produced a memorable moment of skill, bringing under his spell a long ball which fooled the defender, before curling the ball into the top corner to take all three points in stoppage time.

Holsworthy had scored a late equaliser after trailing 3-1, which would have been tough on the hosts as they had enjoyed the best of the play.

The visitors arrived just 20 minutes before kick off and were obviously slow out of the blocks.

Excellent work by Charlie Clarke on the left hand side saw him beat his man and tee up Callum Heath, who slotted home from six yards after 20 minutes.

Ten minutes later Clarke was the provider again, this time clipping in a cross from the right for Adam Peters to steal in at the front post and head home, celebrating his first goal of the season for the team with a Robbie Keane-style somersault and imitation gunfire.

The visitors pulled one back before the break when ?? shot home from the edge of the box, with the ball taking an awkward bounce to deceive Ben Mitchell in the Wendron goal.

Peters restored the hosts' two goal cushion shortly after the break when he chested in an superb corner from Matt Larcombe, but Holsworthy hit back with their best goal of the game before seemingly earning a point with a late equaliser.

Langford had other ideas though, brilliantly controlling a long ball and keeping his cool to bend it into the top corner for a thrilling finale.
