This week's spotlight features Budock Rangers Boys Club, here seen entertaining a team from Audierne, France (hooped shirts) at Bickland Park Home of Falmouth Town in the 1970s. Thanks to Keith Rashleigh for supplying the picture, which shows the Deputy Chairman of Budock Rangers Mr Aubrey Spiller standing on the left. Mike Hodges is the referee. Councillor Mrs DA Wernhard JP and president of the club and Mrs Dunstan Mayor and Mayoress of Penryn. Standing behind the Mayoress is Mr Eric Dawkins, then Town Clerk of Penryn.

“A force to be reckoned with”, so said Bill Smith a County Youth Officer, when he was speaking with the Budock Rangers Boys Club having won the County Youth League for a third time and won several awards. The team was often coached by Tony Kellow who came from Budock Water before embarking on a terrific career in the football league. His mother Doreen used to wash the team kits.

It was a familiar sight to see the Orange/Black (senior teams). The Black & White (junior teams) and the green and White (probationary teams drying on her washing lines in Budock. Her husband Douglas (Tony`s father) was the club Secretary and team manager. Can you name the players in the plain shirts?
