Penryn Rugby Club are excited to announce two new appointments.

Dave Levick has become Head of Rugby, and will have overall responsibility for the playing and development pathway from the youngest under 7 mini to the most experienced member of the first team squad. This role is non-coaching but means that all rugby matters will now come together across the whole club – men, women, boys, girls and vets.

Speaking after his appointment, Dave said: "Penryn Rugby Club has always been a huge part of my life. Persuaded to play for the U16's by Dave 'Benji' Thomas, I then went on to play for the Colts, and was part of a successful first team in the early 90's.

"Penryn provided me with a platform to go on and represent Cornwall at all levels, which furthered my career to London Irish under head coach Clive Woodward, and soon finally returned to Cornwall to play professional rugby for the Pirates.

For the past nine years he has been heavily involved back at the club, coaching in a thriving youth section and taking on roles as coaching co-ordinator, fixture secretary and youth chairman.

"With all the experience I have gained I am extremely honoured to take on the role and remain part of the exciting modernisation plans that the club are implementing. I am particularly looking forward to opening avenues to players of all ages."

Dave has already been driving the re-establishment of the Penryn Second XV which is already arranging fixtures for next month with a mixture of PenFal Colts side and experienced former Borough players.

In another appointment, Matthew Gray has taken over as youth section chairman.

Matthew said: " I wish out going Chairman Dave Levick well in his new role as Head of Rugby. I am also looking forward to being part of the club's exciting plans to modernise its structure.

"Mini and youth players are the life blood of any club and as chairman I am looking forward to working with each age group and the rest of the club to ensure we continue to provide the right environment to develop great rugby players, great people and a great club."

Penryn are also seeking to expand their business and commercial capability and if any former players, or local people feel that they could offer their skills or experience no matter how small, please contact Trevor Howells by emailing trevor.howells@telefonica.com
