MULLION Football Club will not be quite the same come May, when two of its stalwarts will stand down.

Chairman Chris Rosevear, who has also been manager and a player, and football secretary Dave Walden are resigning from their posts after years of service at Clifden Parc.

Secretary Carolyn Norton told Packet Sport: "We won the Combination League with Chris as chairman which was the pinnacle of his time. For many years he has kept things going at the club and he will be a very hard act to follow."

The club's facebook page states: "Chris has made this decision now so that a replacement can be identified early to allow a smooth handover period.

"Anyone interested in being nominated for this role should contact the club via facebook, phone our clubhouse on 01326 240188, or speak to a committee member.

"Mullion FC would like to recognise the outstanding contribution that Chris has made over many, many years, as a player, manager, committee member and ultimately chairman."

"Thank you Chris - you will be sorely missed and we appreciate everything you have done to make Mullion FC what it is today."

Dave Walden, aged 90, is standing down from his role as football secretary but hopes to continue as president.

The inaugural President's Cup match between Mullion and Porthleven was played before the start of this season, in his honour.

He joined the club in 1990 after moving to the area and has been involved ever since. Originally from Wallingford, which was in Berkshire but is now in Oxfordshire, he held an array of posts with several different clubs after being demobbed in 1947.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed being involved with Mullion but I need an operation on my eye and I don't feel as though I can do the role justice anymore," said Dave.
