PORTHLEVEN will be aiming to address their flimsy form away from home as they prepare for a gruelling month on the road.

Starting with a trip to local rivals Penzance on Saturday, they then visit Liskeard, Plymstock United and Elburton Villa on consecutive Saturdays, with a solitary home game against Illogan in midweek on Wednesday, October 26.

Boss Kev Richards said: "It's frustrating because we've produced some fantastic performances at home but we can't seem to get our heads around it when we go away."

After their opening day victory at Holsworthy they have picked up just one more point on the road, away at Penryn in mid-August.

"I'm not sure whether it's the travelling involved but we can't seem to reach the levels that we do at home. We do have a young squad and I said at the start of the season that we may be a bit inconsistent, but we need to get better with the fixtures coming up," he added.

Having secured the full time services of Dan Hindmarch from Culdrose last week, Kev has also signed Rob Carey from St Blazey this week.

"He's a workhorse, he never stops running and he'll be just what we need. It'll be tough to find everyone a place in the starting eleven but that's part of the job of being manager," he said.

Saturday's opponents have been in a horrible run of form, not having won in the league since August 16. They did win 5-4 in the Senior Cup on Saturday, albeit against a Nanpean side sitting near the foot of East Cornwall League Division 1.

"I'm not sure why they're struggling because they have some good players, but hopefully they don't click against us!" said Kev.

Port will be without county youth pair Joel Allen and Jack Webber on Saturday, but Carey will be included in the squad and Max Roberts is likely to have recovered from an injury which kept him out of the Millbrook match.
