CORNISH Pirates Greene King IPA Championship campaign tomorrow when they visit Bedford Blues (3pm).
The home side finished fourth in last season’s league campaign, and the Pirates ninth.
Recent contests between the teams at Goldington Road have been high-scoring affairs. Indeed, it will be remembered that 100 points were scored in the match played last April – the Blues emerging 54-46 winners.
Chris Morgan, who skippers the Pirates for a third consecutive season, partners Canadian international Brett Beukeboom in the second-row, whilst in the backs Argentine centre Nicolas De Battista makes his Championship debut.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game, coach Gavin Cattle has said: “The boys have put in the hard yards and are full of energy and enthusiasm.
“They are ready for the start but also know that playing Bedford Blues away is going to be tough.”
