Falmouth Cricket Club held its annual Open Day yesterday with cricket matches featuring the youth sides running from 8am till 8pm.
The juniors started the day with some fun games involving their parents in family friendly rivalry - nothing quite like bowling out Dad!
The Under 19's had a 20/20 match against Mullion Cricket Club and this saw Falmouth edge home winners by 17 runs. Perhaps the highlight of the day was the first game of cricket for Special Olympics Cornwall - Kernow Specials - a team of players with an Intellectual Disability integrated with volunteer members of Special Olympics Cornwall.
They played against the Under 13 Falmouth side and in a game enjoyed by all they can be proud of their performance in the 15 over a side match falling just short of the Falmouth score of 95.
It's now hoped that the Kernow Specials will play their outdoor cricket at the Hine Downing Oval. The atmosphere throughout the day was one of great fun and enjoyment with the BBQ proving a massive hit!
