Helston eased into the semi-finals of the Vinter Cup with a 50-run win at Praze last night.

Skipper Dan Jenkin (51) and Chris Martin (16) put on 61 for the first wicket to give the visitors a solid start, before Steve Jenkin hammered 57 from just 28 balls and Mark Jenkin made 34 from 20 to give them a fine total of 203-6.

Kevin Knowles picked up three wickets for Praze, with Ben James returning fine figures of 2-28 from his four overs.

Tom James led Praze's reply with an excellent 52 from 34 balls and there were good cameos from Knowles (28) and Damian Lynes (24) for the Division 2 side, who finished on 153-8.

The wickets were shared among six bowlers for Helston, with James Rowe returning outstanding figures of 2-15 off four.

In last night's other quarter-final, Penzance hammered neighbouring Ludgvan by 75 runs, after scoring 177-6 in their 20 overs.

The remaining semi-final spots are up for grabs tonight, when Falmouth II host Truro and Redruth entertain Vinter Cup specialists St Just.
