PENRYN'S Cornwall Cup semi-final against St Ives tonight has been cancelled after the Hakes withdrew.

The Borough now progress to the final against Camborne on Monday, May 2 at St Austell

Here is a message from Head coach Paul Thirlby.

"I have just had a discussion with the management, and it is with great regret we, as a club are going to have to withdraw from the County Cup tomorrow against Penryn. Unfortunately this comes down to unavailability, injuries and a lack of front row and front row cover, with one prop on holiday until Thursday, and two props coming off injured on Saturday. The club only have 2 recognised front row players available and can not risk player welfare by fielding unrecognised props or hookers."

"This is also compelled by the fact that we have our final league game at the weekend against Plymstock which we need to win to guarantee promotion and to risk players mid week to fulfil the fixture and put the hard work that has gone in to a season long target of promotion isn't an option when we need to get a long list of injured players fit for this winner takes all league game.

If we had the squad available and had promotion already then things may have been different and we would have been in a great situation to have given a good account of ourselves and pushed for a cup final, but unfortunately it hasn't worked out this way

I hope everyone can understand the decision that has been made by the club and will be there on Saturday to hopefully cheer us on to promotion.
