SMILES returned to Wendron United faces on Saturday as they bounced back from two defeats by beating Millbrook 2-1.

After winning their opening South West Peninsula League West game of the season, Dron have fallen to losses in their following games against Mousehole and Liskeard Athletic.

However, goals from captain Chris Mulroy and Mikey O'Neill saw them achieve a first away win of the campaign and move up to tenth in the table.

Proceedings nearly got off to a fantastic start for Dron as just before the quarter hour mark when Jack Stocker saw his shot crash into the crossbar.

However, a few minutes later the deadlock was broken by Mulroy after Brian Hawke supplied the midfielder with a pass into the penalty area before slotting it past the home goalkeeper.

Ben Mitchell was forced to make an outstanding save to keep Dron in front just after they had taken the lead, but he could prevent an equaliser one minute after half time as Shaun Evans' low shot beat him at the near post.

O'Neill got the winner though ten minutes from time as he volleyed the ball home at the back post after getting on the end of a corner taken by Mulroy.

On Saturday, Wendron host Illogan RBL at Underlane, kick-off 3pm.
