VICTORIES in finals do not come grander than what the Cornish Rebels managed to produce on Sunday as they retained their South West League crown.

The side demolished Exeter Centurions during the Grand Final at Launceston with 17 tries being run over the whitewash as they completed an emphatic 94-12 win.

Scoring the most for the Rebels was winger Alex Ducker who dotted down four times and man-of-the-match Darren Pellow bagged a hat-trick as well.

Aaron Henry and Jamie Prisk both got braces while Lewis Thomas, Sam Bristow, Olly Reynolds, Josh Durant, Joe Martin and Guy Pallett also crossed the try-line on a hot afternoon at Polson Bridge.

Although the Centurions were a much changed outfit from the side who defeated the Rebels in the Challenge Cup Final this season, they still had plenty of experience to call upon in their ranks.

However, they could not produce the goods on the day against a rampant Rebels line-up who were gunning from the very first minute to retain the title.

In the beginning, it looked like proceedings would be even as the Centurions, who topped the league table, were steady and had decent spells of possession.

Errors from the Cornish gave their rivals extra yardage, but the defence put in a solid display to keep Exeter out.

On the offensive side of things, Tom Cowan-Dickie, Jess Tompsett and Martyn Lawrance were all having fun on the ball and breaking into space with the first try for Ducker soon coming before Pellow and Prisk added two more to see the Rebels jump ahead.

By the half hour mark Pellow and Thomas had dotted down and with the score reading 24-0, it already seemed like a long way back for the Centurions to make.

They did offer some hope to their fans when Stef Archer powered in for their first try, but straight from the restart, Ducker received the ball from behind his own try-line and went on a dazzling run which outpaced the Centurions defence for an immediate reply.

Martin finished another fine move off to make the half time score 36-6 and not long after the interval finished, Ducker completed his hat-trick and Prisk added further gloss with his try.

Pallett scored after breaking away from the Centurions line to go under the posts and Reynold's stretched over the whitewash after being tackled just short.

At this stage it was becoming a procession for the Rebels as Henry was rewarded for his good game with two tries before Bristow shrugged off two defenders to go over.

Pellow and Ducker completed their scoring for the day soon afterwards before Ben Cowley raised some cheer for Exeter as the prop barged over the whitewash.

Durant had the final word of the day though as he bagged a try moments before the trophy was presented to Prisk and Pellow.
