HOOKER Luke Cowan-Dickie said he was delighted to earn his first England cap during Saturday's 19-14 win over France.

The 22-year-old Exeter Chiefs star who grew up in Newlyn replaced Rob Webber in the 56th minute at Twickenham during the warm-up match for the Rugby World Cup, which begins next month.

A brace of tries from Bath winger Anthony Watson and another by Gloucester's Jonny May helped England to victory.

Plenty of good wishes were sent to Cowan-Dickie on social media following his inclusion in the squad and after the final whistle, he tweeted: "Thanks for the messages, was great to get my first cap and the win! #nervs #engvfra."

Cowan-Dickie is part of the training squad selected by England head coach Stuart Lancaster ahead of the tournament.

England play France in Paris on Saturday and August 31, the final squad will be announced.
