HOPES of winning the Mining Division Evening League title were dashed for Constantine on Wednesday as they were knocked out at the semi final stage.

Defending champions Mt Hawke progressed to the final after a 12 run victory at Perranporth over the side who topped Group D with an unbeaten record.

Batting first, the Mount were wobbling at 51-4 before wicketkeeper Russell Davis hit 44 to guide them to a total of 133-8 from their 20 overs, with skipper Ryan Thomas contributing 27 runs as well.

Charles Campbell picked up three wickets for Constantine and then made 56 not out with the bat, hitting six fours and two sixes.

However, with only two of his team-mates reaching double figures, John Campbell, 19, and Alex Prynn, 12, Constantine ended up falling short of their target.

The second semi final between Helston and Redruth will be played at Mt Ambrose on Thursday.
