FALMOUTH seconds got an excellent win at Gulval, coming out on top by five wickets with almost six overs to spare.

The home side got 228-7 with Ben Allen top scoring with 56.

All six Falmouth bowlers took a wicket with Tom Hoban taking two for 26.

A big second wicket partnership between Jacob Stephens, 60, and Kieran Rodda, 120 not out, set Falmouth on the road to victory.

At the halfway mark of the season they lie seventh in Division Two, 51 points behind leaders Rosudgeon and Falmouth host St Just seconds on Saturday.

Stithians are one place above them after gaining a fourth win of the campaign, beating St Just by 33 runs after making 180.

It was thanks to the top order with Roger Strick making 31, Kieran Webber and Nathan Strick twenties before Callum Martin made an undefeated 55.

Webber took four for 41 and there were two each for Martin and Ben Tann as St Just were dismissed for 147 in the 44th over.

A tough trip to leaders Rosudgeon beckons this weekend for Stithians.

Praze got their promotion push back on track with a big win at title rivals Paul.

Ben and Tom James shared an opening stand of 243 made over 42 overs, with the former making 107 and the latter 103, while Sam James ended unbeaten on 31 in the big total of 291-5. 


Paul were bowled out for 93 with Ben James completing a fine afternoon with four for 17 and Jevon Nolan taking three for 37. 


Praze, who are four points behind new leaders Rosudgeon at the halfway mark, host mid-table Truro seconds on Saturday. 

Constantine head Division Three at the halfway mark with a seven point advantage over Wendron.

They were run close by lowly Botallack & St Levan at Boulder Parc however before coming out on top by 27 runs.

Kyle Winnan, 78, and Richard Waters, 54, put on 117 for the home side’s first wicket before Graham Griffiths chipped in with 41 and brother Darren with 36 in the 268-7.

Paul Angove’s 67 and Stuart Nicholls with 57 helped get the Penwith side to a very creditable 241 all out, with ten balls remaining.

They were 224-6 at one stage but Joe Vanstone picked up the last four wickets to end with five for 38, while Darren Griffiths took three for 39.

Perranarworthal lost at high flying Wendron to occupy seventh spot at the turn.

Antony Harris made 70 in Wendron’s 195-8 with Dave Taylor taking four for 45 and Ben Toulson and James Adams two each.

No one could play the big innings to get Perran across the line.

Toulson made 45 and opener Andrew Brotherton 34 but no-one else got twenty as Ryan Mitchell took three for 29.

Mullion got only their second win of the season with a 110 win success over bottom side Barripper, at Garro Lane.


They had a poor start losing three quick wicket but staged a spectacular recovery to make 289-8 as Mark Hall made 82, Dan Johnson 58 and Jim Pearson and Steve Green 33 apiece. 


Barripper survived the overs to end on 179-9 with Jonty Wheatley taking three for 29 with two each for Michael Cockings and Ryan Tonkin.


Leedstown’s woes continued with a 34 runs defeat at Redruth. 


However the game was pleasingly reported as “A lovely game of cricket played in good spirit. Cricket truly was the winner today.” 


Ben Page made 106 and Jack Paull 98 not out as the Reds amassed 286-2. 


Leedstown replied with 252-8 with skipper Luke Stuckey making 81, Liam Smitheram 62 and Ty Hendra 37 not out.

In Division Four, Porthleven are in a comfortable mid-table slot cemented by Saturday’s big 191 home win over Stithians seconds. 


Chris Cattlin, 71, and Paul Combellack, 46, put on 90 for the second wicket before they slipped to 166-6, but an unbeaten 64 off 39 balls, with five sixes and six fours, from Neil Bartlett boosted the total to 256-7.


Stithians were shot out for 65 thanks to an incredible spell from Brad Bury as in seven overs, he took six wickets for seven runs. 


Helston seconds maintained second spot with a 115 run home win over Beacon, with Josh Ninnis making 106 and Luke Clark 52. 

St Gluvias seconds got an impressive nine wicket win at St Buryan having been set 128 to win.

After Sam Duckham took four for 40, Richard Bannister hit a six, with the scores level, to end on 99 not out.

Alex Stuthridge made 42 and took five for 29 as Falmouth thirds beat Ludgvan seconds by 45 runs at Channel Four.

Mawnan were beaten by 122 runs in their Division Six top of the table clash with Paul seconds, who made an impressive 269-4.

To add to his two wickets, Ollie Bennett-Hughes scored 33 while Christian Smith, 31, and Henry Bennett-Hughes, 26, helped the home side to 147 all out.

On Sunday, St Gluvias' third team finally got their first win of the season in Division Five as they defeated Mullion seconds by nine wickets.

After bowling out the visitors for 126, with Brian Bawden taking five wickets for 17, a knock of 58 from Gabriel Williamson featuring 11 fours saw the home side to victory.

Alongside Phil Julian, who ended on 41 not out, Williamson helped put on 104 for the opening wicket.
