FORMER professional footballer and Falmouth School pupil Jamie Day will be alongside ex-Porthleven boss Dennis Annear in the Cornwall Under 18s coaching set-up.

The pair have been unveiled in the new look dugout which will be managed by Glynn Hooper with Alan Yendell also among the staff and Toby Wellington coming in as physio.

Day played for Peterborough United, Crawley Town and Dagenham & Redbridge in the Football League before a back injury sustained in 2011 forced him to retire a year later.

Annear, who will be the goalkeeping coach, has spent the last three years managing Port but stood down from the position at the end of last season due to work commitments.

Hooper said he is delighted to be giving the chance to manage the youth side, adding he is also pleased with the coaching staff he has been able to pull together.

"I hope to develop an environment that the boys are free to express their football without a fear of failure," he said.

"I am delighted Alan, Jamie, Dennis and Toby have accepted my invitation to join the coaching team.

"They bring a wealth of experience, along with enthusiasm, which I hope the players will feed off."

In May, the Cornwall FA announced they would not be running the U18s side during the 2015/16 campaign due to funding cuts.

However, just days later a sponsorship offer from Truro City and Helical Retail meant the cash to support the side was met and prompted a u-turn on the decision.

Cornwall will compete in the FA County Youth Cup and the South & West Counties Championship.

In the latter competition, the Duchy will be in Group A alongside Devon, Somerset and Gloucestershire, while in the cup first round they have been at home to Guernsey.
