FOR the third year in a row Falmouth will feature in the Vinter Cup Final after they knocked Helston out in the semi final stage on Wednesday evening.

They will face fellow Cornwall Premier Division side and defending champions St Just in the final for the second consecutive time, with the match at Camborne on July 8.

Falmouth, who won the competition in 2013, made it to the final again with a eight wicket victory over County Division One club Helston, who currently top their league.

Batting first at Redruth, Helston were reduced to 42-6 as Antony Angove, who was recently called into the Cornwall senior side, took three wickets from his four overs, conceding just nine runs in the process.

Thanks a mini rebuild of the innings from Mark Thomas, 12, Werner Potgieter, 15, and Thomas Retallack, ten, Helston got to 91 before losing their final wicket on the last ball.

Light work was made of the chase by Falmouth with victory coming in the 14th over.

Top scoring was Callum Whittaker with 28 while Angove completed a good game by finishing on 26 not out.

Stefan Churcher bashed 23 runs in an opening stand of 30 with Whittaker while Christian Purchase, standing in as captain in Sean Hooper's absence due to injury, scored an unbeaten 16.

Taking the two wickets for Helston were Retallack and Gavin Tregenza.

St Just, who have won ten of the last 11 Vinter Cups, defeated Truro by three wickets after bowling them out for 84.
