“FILL up Twickenham” is the call from Ian Morgan for Cornish rugby fans ahead of Sunday’s County Championship Final.

The county’s backs coach said the support given to the side during Saturday’s crucial group stage tie with Hertfordshire in Redruth was amazing and played a role in their victory.

Around 3,500 fans crammed into The Rec to put their very vocal support behind Cornwall, although some estimates suggest 5,000 people squeezed into the ground.

“It is unbelievable to have that sort of support,” Morgan said.

“The crowd were absolutely superb and we need to get as many up to Twickenham.

“As the saying goes, the last one out turn the light off please.

“It plays a big part for the side as when you’re tired, that roar gives you an extra ten per cent and can act as a real knife in the back of the opposition when they make a mistake.”

Morgan went onto say he was “chuffed” to be returning to Twickenham with the side, adding he hopes to turn the tables on Lancashire this time.

He said: “Two years ago we put a brilliant comeback which just fell short and then last year we had a big lead which we lost, so if we combine the two down the middle somewhere then that’ll be good.

“On a more serious note, I think we are looking far better as a defensive unit and more cohesive as a squad and that will really help us on Sunday.”
