LOTS of banter and bets have been flying around Trescobeas Road after Falmouth Cricket Club's first and second teams were paired together in the Vinter Cup.

The draw for the Twenty20 competition's second round saw the sides pulled out of the hat to face each other tonight at their home ground.

Ever since the tie was made, the clash has been hotly discussed at the club with chairman David Painter admitting the lads have been quite vocal about proceedings.

Painter said: "The draw has triggered off plenty of banter between the two sides to say the least.

"Great pressure is being put on the first team by the seconds and a few bets between the lads on who will get who out or how many runs they will score.

"It really has turned into a must see match of the day and we are expecting a good crowd and a noisy night afterwards."

Falmouth's first team won the competition in 2013 and also made last year's final, but were unable to defend their title as they lost to St Just by 21 runs.

A 102 run stuffing over Perranporth at home saw the second XI go past the first round of the competition, where they fell to Stithians in 2014.

Apart from this highly anticipated tie, the rest of the draw saw a couple more derby matches set up.

In an all Cornwall Premier League clash, Camborne host Redruth while Division Two West outfit Praze are at home to County Division One side Helston.

The latter's second team have also been drawn against a neighbouring side with Mullion travelling up to Beacon Parc.

St Gluvias, who defeated Perranarworthal by ten wickets in the first round, have been drawn away to Premier side Penzance.
