BOSSES at the Cornwall FA have confirmed they will not be taking part in representative football at youth level next season.
The organisation released a statement on Friday stating they had made the decision reluctantly, but felt they could continue with their Under 18s side's involvement with the South & West Counties Championship Competition.
A reduction in annual grant funding of £19,000 will be faced by the county's FA over next season, which the board said was partly behind the reason to pull out, with a review to be done again in a year's time.
A statement said: "Whilst we have a strong tradition of supporting rep football at all levels, with the senior mens team SW Counties competition ceasing to exist some years ago, we have continued unlike a number of counties, to support the U18 Youth in the South & West Counties Championship Competition.
"This has not been an easy decision for any element of the County Association that has supported the SW competition and representative football for many years, but faced with a £19,000 reduction in our annual grant from the FA as a result of monies being redirected by the FA to support the recommendations of the Chairman's Commission, the Board was faced with some very difficult choices."
"As a result of funding from other sources both male and female youth representative football will continue through our Development Centres."
