CAMBORNE completed their South West One campaign with a heavy defeat at North Petherton with the Somerset side leapfrogging their visitors to finish in fifth spot in the table as a result, writes Martin Symons.

Town will reflect on an injury hit season where on the road, despite many close and spirited battles, 11 away defeats ensured their National League promotion push faded away.

On the day, the Cherry and Whites competed well upfront despite losing lock Shaun Buzza injured early on.

Behind the scrum, Dean Pascoe had a busy day at full-back bringing off a number of last ditch tackles whilst wing Rob Floyd also made a number of telling stops.

The home side were out of sight by half time leading 26-7 with a four try bonus point in the bag as Camborne were restricted to a solitary try from left wing Alex Ducker, converted by David Mankee.

The visitors improved in an evenly contested second period running in three more tries to return home with a consolation bonus point.

Hard working back row men James Goldsworthy and number eight Dave Roberts bagged a touchdown apiece and the final score came from the outstanding Pascoe with fly-half Mankee landing two more conversions.
