A VITAL victory was earned by Helston at Roseland as they look to escape relegation from Tribute Cornwall One.

It was important for their survival hopes to get at least four points from the bottom-of-the-table clash and with the help of three tries, with two converted, they managed to complete the task.

They steamed into a healthy lead by half time before having to deal with a comeback in the second period from Roseland as they managed to get within a point of the lead.

However, the Blues were fantastic in defence and kept their hosts at bay, relegating them in the process.

Their final mission is to face up with Stithians, the only other team who can be relegated from the league.

Both sides going into Saturday’s encounter at Clodgey Lane level on points, but Stithians do have one game in hand.

However, this match is against Newquay Hornets, who have already claimed the league title and remain unbeaten all season, so in affect this weekend’s tie will be a winner-takes-all affair.
