CULDROSE Hawks Under 14s had to dig deep to see off Leedstown Leopards on Sunday for a 5-4 home victory.

A strong start was made by the hosts, but against the run of play the visitors were able to take an early lead.

But the Hawks fought back and got an equaliser from a well taken strike by Louis Bell before Tystan Williams added a second before the break.

At half time the score was 2-2 with the Leopards grabbing another goal, but their opponents regained the lead not long after the interval as Harry Duckworth added his name to the scoresheet.

The advantage was extended to two goals not longer afterwards when Williams’ cross was turned in by Dominic Marshall.

Straight from the restart Leedstown went up the field and made the score 4-3, but Harry Bray’s pass found Duckworth and he was able to add a fifth for the hosts.

Another goal was bagged by the away team before the final whistle, but Culdrose held on to win much to the delight of their manager Johnny Bray.

He said: “We thoroughly deserved our win today in what really was a great game of football from both sides.”
