CORNISH Pirates bosses will present their appeal to the RFU on Monday over the decision to reverse the result against Bedford Blues.

The British & Irish Cup game at the Mennaye on October 12 had been won by the hosts 35-34 thanks to a last minute converted try by Bertie Hopkin.

However, it was later changed to a 34-28 win in favour of the Blues after the competition's organising committee ruled the Pirates had breached a regulation during the match.

Prop Tyler Gendall had to leave the field in the second half with an injury and with no suitable front row replacement available, fly-half Hopkin came on to replace him and force uncontested scrums.

It was then announced a few days after the game the Pirates should have continued playing with 14 men and by letting Hopkin play had broken the cup's rules.

The hearing is fixed to begin at 5.30pm on November 10.
