Porthleven 0 Dobwalls 2

Porthlven's recent run of poor form continued at Gala Parc on Saturday as Dennis Annear's side conceded two soft goals to hand all three points to visiting Dobwalls.

The result leaves Port without a win in their last four league outings, and means the Fishermen slip to tenth in the table.

More worrying was an injury to veteran stopper and player manager Annear, which forced him off and son Tom to deputise for the majority of the game.

Dobwalls were a goal to the good by then, but in truth neither side performed particularly well and there was very little quality football on show.

Port gave a debut to new signing Christian Blango, and he showed enough to suggest that when Jordan Annear returns to action the pair could forge a potent strike partnership.

His surging runs after being introduced with just under half an hour left to play were the only highlight during an otherwise miserable afternoon for the Fishermen.

They fell behind with barely a minute on the clock when a break down the right saw Dan Lawrence cut inside his marker and cross low and hard.

The ball ricocheted off a defender and flew into the near corner, leaving Annear with no chance.

A Simon Skewes free kick was headed clear by Dan Tarrant, before a Dobwalls corner resulted in a header on goal by Tom King, which Port right back Chris Wormington did well to clear off the line.

Then came the injury to Annear, who went down heavily and looked to have damaged his hip when challenging Dobwalls' top socrer Martyn Hake for the ball .

The Port keeper played on for several minutes, but evenutally he was forced off and son Tom took over between the posts.

In the second half Port missed a chance to level when a Thomas Hawkin corner was headed just over by Wormington, who seemed unable to rise high enough to get over the ball.

And a good cross by Jack Glover for Porthleven just missed the outstretched boot of striker Freddie Williams, allowing King to scramble across to clear the danger.

Port replaced Sam Kay with Blango after 65 minutes, and the rangy forward had an immediate impact, displaying some nice touches on the ball.

But it was Tarrant who had Port's only meaningful shot on goal of the afternoon as the clock ticked down, and it was easy for the Dobwalls keeper.

The home side thought they'd equalised when Matt Dawson had the ball in the back of the net, only for the linesman's flag to rule out of for offside.

And Tom Annear needed to be alert soon after to make an excellent point-blank save from Joe Eke.

But four minutes from time Dobwalls wrapped up the win their marginally better performance only just deserved.

Annear had a hand in it. It was his mis-hit goal kick that went straight to Harry Hook, allowing the striker to run in on goal and slam a fierce shot into the back of the net to make it 0-2.
