Weston and District League round up
BERROW Reserves boss Steve Eley hailed his side’s 4-2 win at Nailsea United ‘A’ as one of the best performances of the season.
The team went a goal down before Eley’s penalty levelled the scores and then man of the match Shaun Lismore continued his hot streak of form to bag another goal.
Nailsea got a second goal to make it 2-2 at half-time but second half goals from Lismore, courtesy of a flamboyant overhead kick, and a second penalty for Eley ensured they came away with the three points.
Eley said: “The players showed a fantastic attitude and we have to keep that going all season now because this league is so tight and very competitive.
“We are in the cup next week so it is a chance to try out some of the other lads.” The team are at home to Selkirk in the Hospital Cup quarter finals on Saturday.
Meanwhile, in Division Two, Burnham United ‘A’ were hit for six at home to Tickenham United.
The 6-0 result sees Burnham sit towards the lower end of the table on four points from their four outings. They travel to Axbridge Town on Saturday.
Division Three side Wedmore had no game at the weekend and are not due to play this weekend either while Division Four side King Alfred Sport Centre were also not in action last week but are at home to Cleeve West Town ‘A’ at the weekend.
Burnham United ‘B’ will face Wrington Redhill Reserves at home on Saturday after they had a free game week last weekend but in Division Six Wedmore Reserves lost 2-1 at home to Portishead Caledonian Thistle and are also at home this weekend against Shipham Reserves.
