AFTER being pipped to the league title last season by Portishead this game was always going to give united a stern test.

Burnham didn't start well with the Portishead midfield particularly dominant. However United began to their passing together with Rosser going close on a couple of occasions before being put through by White and finding the net after being one with the goalie.

It continued to be competitive all over the pitch but credit must go to White, Durrant, Mcdermott and Costello for staying strong in defence and when called upon Manlow gave another confident display in goal.

The second half was another tight affair with Harding, Hughes and Partridge having to work hard to compete with Portishead and Kidner and Podbury providing a good outlet on the wings.

It was backs against the wall for the last ten minutes but Burnham held out for the win they just about deserved. Joint men of the match Charlie Harding and Chaz White
