THE Somerset Disabled CC had to settle for the runners up spot in the County Championship after losing out to Lancashire by three wickets in the National Finals at Derbyshire CCC.

In a low scoring exciting game against an experienced Lancashire side, Somerset came very close but could take the last few wickets needed to win the trophy.

Somerset were all out for 128, England international Kieran Cosens made 72 but Lancashire replied with 129-7 with 15 balls remaining.

Cosens taking 2-12 and won Man-of the-Match award.

Somerset captain Jon Tucker said: “Although we are desperately disappointed, playing in national final at a country ground is a great experience for our young side.”

The team dedicated their final appearance to coach Dan Hodges died in April.
