BOWLS: Taunton look for new indoor members at Vivary Park

The outdoor season has given way to the new indoor season at Taunton Bowling Club, situated in Vivary Park, and the club is looking for new members.

Apart from social bowls, there are 14 leagues ranging from teams of one to four players comprising ladies, men or mixed. In addition there are friendly and competitive matches against other clubs along with a full social calendar and the club has invested in wheelchair facilities. Anyone interested in joining should call recruitment secretary Mike Clark on 01823-461468.

Taunton got their indoor season got off to a great start by winning their first two games.

The friendly against Winscombe was won 67-40.

Scores: F Hunt 20, M Nash 17; N Savage 26, P Fredersdorff 8; L Bass 21, A Watts 15.

Taunton’s game against Somerset County Under 25 team produced some high quality bowls with the club side winning 65-60.

The Taunton team was captained by Club President Harry Scragg, who also skipped the highest winning rink. Scores: H Scragg 23, A Prolman 16; N Savage 23, R Williams 22; A Berry 19, D Taylor 22.
