GOLF: Taunton and Pickeridge contest RAFA Trophy
Saturday saw 150 golfers compete for the RAFA Trophy, a Stableford event supporting the Royal Air Forces Association at Taunton and Pickeridge.
The perfect scoring conditions were welcomed by all, though none more so than Pickeridge newcomer Jason Brock.
His hole in one on the par three second earned him a share of the prizes but it wasn’t enough to bring home the trophy.
That honour went to Rob Watts who beat Dave Swindell by virtue of a better back-nine score.
Completing the winners was Peter Bettridge, easily securing the division three prize.
On Tuesday the ladies section held their Closed Meeting medal. A well-supported event saw Rosie Spragg lift the Club Cup with gross score of 78.
Second and third places in the silver division were filled by Kathy Edwards and Roisin Burree, shooting nett 69 and 73 respectively.
In the bronze division, the honour of lifting the Eileen Green Cup went to Gill Jowett, with just a single shot separating her from Jan West.
Running concurrently was a stableford competition, with silver and bronze honours going to Louise Worth and Margaret Unsworth.
