Bridgwater Town Reserves smash Minehead 4-0
A STRONG Town Reserves team produced a superb performance to beat Minehead 4-0 at Fairfax Park last night (September 25).
The win was Bridgwater 's third in the league this season from ten outings and saw them leapfrog their West Somerset opponents into eighth spot in the league.
Minehead’s Mike Mullen produced a powerful header earlier on but Bridgwater got a foothold in the game.
A deceptive curling free kick from the dangerous winger Joe McClennan curled infront of everyone but came back off the underside of the crossbar with Meredith beaten.
And Dave Pearse opened the scoring as he touched in McLennan’s dangerous cross after the youngster produced lightning burst of speed to pass his marker.
Pearse doubled his and the team’s tally later on in the first half with a solo effort that took him past two defenders from where he gave Meredith in the Minehead goal no chance.
Bridgwater lead 2-0 at half time and despite Minehead missing a golden opportunity early-on, the Robins caught the visitors on the break and Kenzie Farnham ran onto a perfect through ball to score.
In similar fashion following a counter-attack, Jake Mawford volleyed home expertly from a cross to make it 4-0.
