GOLF: Fisher secures Padbrook Park treble
CHRIS Fisher won his third event of the season as he took the Captain’s Cup at Padbrook Park.
Back-to-back birdies on the par five 14th and 15th holes, along with pars on the tough 16th and 18th, helped him return a score of 42 Stableford points.
He finished two points ahead of Dave Turner who fired birdies on the second and seventh holes. Neil Woodman was three points further back in third.
Captain's Cup: 1 C Fisher 42pts, 2 D Turner 40, 3 N Woodman 37, 4 D Hepburn 36, 5 P Yolland 36, 6 P Moore 35, 7 P Knight 35, 8 H Chau 35, 9 W Blundell 35, 10 R Hutchings 34.
Phil Moore and Tom Evans will contest the final of the Summer Singles sponsored by PGA Advanced Professional Stuart Disney.
Moore beat Hamish Marshall 3&2 in his semi-final, despite seeing his early three hole lead evaporate by the turn. Evans got the better of Duncan Hepburn in a match that went into extra holes.
Seniors September Medal: 1 J Bowden 85 (14) 71, 2 S Penfold 82 (11) 71, 3 T Pettitt 100 (26) 74, 4 I West 95 (20) 75, 5 D Alford 102 (27) 75, 6 J Emerton 92 (15) 77, 7 R Cavill 97 (10) 77, 8 M Cockerill 100 (21) 79.
Padbrook need a remarkable result in their final East Devon League match if they are to clinch second place.
They would need to beat Fingle Glen 5-0 at Exminster for a share of second spot. Fingle themselves need a win to have any chance of catching Honiton for the title. It follows the latest round of matches played at Padbrook.
EDL Results: Honiton 2.5 Woodbury Park 2.5, Fingle Glen 3 Axe Cliff 2, Sidmouth 3 Exminster 2.
