HIGHBRIDGE Town came agonisingly close to recording their first win of the season as they suffered a 3-2 defeat to SRL All Saints.

The team went a goal behind but Stuart Green restored the home side's faith with a well-worked goal.

And there were two more goals before half-time as the visitors edged their noses in front again only to have that lead cancelled out by Highbridge.

But five minutes into the second half saw the decisive strike from SRL Saints to take a 3-2 lead which they held on to for the rest of the match despite chances for Highbridge that went begging.

The team will hope to notch their first win next week now as they take on North Petherton at home for a 2.30pm kick-off.

The Reserves also failed to score their first points of the season as they fell 5-2 to The Merry Monk on Saturday.

Andrew Mockridge and Chris Lemarchand scored for Town but it wasn't enough as the home side netted five times.

They face Bridgwater Sports Reserves away this Saturday. Kick-off is 2.30pm.
