THE score line certainly didn't reflect the superiority of United and as a result of many missed chances they found themselves under some increased pressure in the second half in a game that should have been out of site at half time.
The first ten minutes was a relatively even affair but United started to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and asked some real questions of the home side.
Burnham took the lead with 22 minutes gone with a brilliant finish from Matt Scott after great work from Whitfield to win the ball.
Whitfield then had a great chance himself to extend the lead but as he travelled at speed through the box he went down to easy after an attempted interception from the Larkhall defender.
Further chances where created with Keirle, Leaf and in particular Scott all missing good chances.
Mylum fell awkwardly just before half time after a challenge and was replaced by Smith.
The second half started as expected with the home side having a real go at getting back in the game, but the defence was immense, Walford, Bidgood, Lamb and Saunders dealt with everything the physical forward line threw at them including a few elbows.
United was struggling to retain the possession they had in the first half but the introduction of Neilson for Keirle on 70 minutes, allowing Captain Hirons to push higher up the pitch had the desired effect and United gained control again.
Scott missed a guilt edge chance to double his tally as he tried to round the keeper but his out stretched leg couldn't quite push the ball past the on-rushing keeper. Ell Lamb, Leaf, Smith all had efforts to enhance United lead.
Manager Ashley Plant: “It was a superb performance, we missed a lot of chances which was frustrating as we could have killed the match off before half time, and it certainly left me clock watching in the final minutes, but I'm delighted with a second consecutive clean sheet in the league.
“The great result was slightly marred by the injury just before half time of the excellent Warren Mylum who looks like he could be out for quite some time, the whole of Burnham United wish Waz a speedy recovery.”
