MANY of our sides rounded off their season in the Somerset Shrubbery cricket league at the weekend.

In Division 1, Middlezoy beat Watchet comprehensively by nine wickets. Marc Troman (78 not out), Ben Warren (42) and Nathan Barnard (98 not out) ensured Middlezoy posted 251-1 and then all the bowlers chipped in to restrict Watchet to 208-9.

North Petherton bowed out of their season in defeat against Ashbrittle. They were made to chase leather as the home side posted 279-4 and then routed Pethy for 80 with only Tim Gibbs (20), Dan Tottle (19) and S Heath (14) reaching double figures.

In Division 2, North Newton claimed a win over Wedmore. A White top scored with 53 in North Newton's 158 all out and then P Jenkins took 3-24 to skittle Wedmore for 120.

Bridgwater A were agonisingly close to promotion in Division 3 as they hammered Street. Ali Hewson carried his bat to hit 137 with Ben Coombes (79 not out) as Bridgy hit 242-1. But they were unable to bowl Street out for those elusive bonus points as the visitors closed on 207-7.

In Division 4, Kilve routed North Perrott for 32 thanks to J Darrell (3-8), R Penwell (5-10) and P Sylvester (2-7) and chased the runs down for the loss of three wickets.

Bridgwater Sports conceded their match with Taunton Deane Cavaliers in Division 6.

But in Division 8S Chilton Polden beat table toppers Middlezoy 2nds as they posted 200-5 thanks to a top score of 43 from Dave Ewbank. S Pinder then claimed 4-17 in reply to skittle Middlezoy for 151.

Wembdon Wyverns were bowled out for 67 against Taunton Deane Crusaders in a nine-wicket defeat.
